The UCSF Advanced Lung Disease and Transplant Research Program

Who we are: A group of clinician-scientists focused on improving the lives of patients with advanced diffuse lung diseases and lung transplant recipients. Our expertise spans the spectrum of research, from clinical outcomes and trials to basic science in humans and mice. We are specialists in pulmonary medicine, thoracic surgery, infectious diseases, cardiology, pulmonary rehabilitation, and psychometrics.

UCSF ALDT Organization: Founded by Jonathan Singer MD, MS, and now co-Directed by Drs. Singer and John Greenland, MD PhD, the ALDT Research Program includes seven cores, each overseen by a Director and comprised of core faculty and trainees.

The basic and translational science cores are based at UCSF Parnassus Hospital and the San Francisco VA Medical Center. Our patient-facing research cores are based at UCSF Parnassus Hospital and are tightly embedded in the lung transplantation, cystic fibrosis, and pulmonary hypertension clinical programs. This allows our patients to easily participate in our research programs and for new discoveries to be rapidly integrated into clinical care.
